Succession
All basic research on the Age Pyramid in Europe depicts a severe aging problem of the population, raising concerns over succession planning for a great number of enterprises.
Hence, many entrepreneurs, who are the primary shareholders of their venture(s), will have to assess exit strategy options, which may include looking for a family member to take over the venture, executing a Management Buy-out, or accessing the broader M&A market to sell the venture.
Beyond the practical matters of these exit strategies, succession planning can also include the elaboration of strategies aimed at deliberately extending the viability of the firm beyond one generation of leaders.
